Helper Mayor Dean Armstrong accepts a commemorative plaque from Chamber of Commerce President Dallen Skelley at Thursday's city council meeting. The chamber is recognizing members who have been in business for more than a century. Helper, which was originally settled in 1881 - 82 and incorporated as a town in 1907, is qualified for the recognition. Skelley read a short proclamation highlighting the town's diversity and colorful past. Armstrong said the plaque will be displayed where it will get a lot of views.
