Good food, good causes

About 500 community members flocked to Ascension St. Matthew's Church to enjoy the food and each other's company at the Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner. This event and the Fall Fare are the church's two major fund-raising events.

All proceeds from the fund-raisers go directly to charities. Last year contributions went to a long list of beneficiaries, including:

Carbon County Food Bank; Golden Retriever rescue; Eastern Utah Wind Symphony; Children's Justice Center; Price City Centennial Book Drive; Natasha Brinkerhoff Cancer Fund; 222nd Field Artillery project; Christmas families Kaylee Van Wagner Fund; Simmons Family Fund; Gideons International; Bishop's Discretionary Fund; ASM Bike Rodeo; Community Clothes Closet; Perky Van; Lutheran Seminary, MN; Honduras Mission Support; and Episcopal, Lutheran Relief Agencies.

As if that were not enough, the church is looking for suggestions on where else to pass on the benefits of generosity.
