After both advancing to the 3A state basketball tournament, only the Carbon High girls will be advancing on to the quarterfinals down in St. George this week.

The Carbon High girls basketball team will continue on in postseason play after defeating Ogden High 56-35 at home on Friday night. They will next take on Judge Memorial on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at Dixie State College.

For the Carbon High boys team, a trip to the quarterfinals will have to wait for another year as they were defeated by Ben Lomond 73-52 in Ogden on Saturday night.

In a rematch from an earlier game this season, which the Dinos won 44-42 in double overtime, Carbon trailed for much of the game being down by as much as 17 late into the third quarter. They were able to make a run going into the first few minutes of the fourth quarter cutting the Ben Lomond lead to six points with five minutes left. However the large deficit was too much to overcome as Ben Lomond took control of the game and kept the Dinos from making any attempt at a comeback.

Read Tuesday's edition of the Sun Advocate for more information about the games.
