The Carbon High divers traveled to Park City on Saturday Jan. 28 for the region 3A Diving Championships.

In the girls division Kindra Edwards placed sixth. She was 10 points away from finishing in third place.

"Kindra did well in most of her 11 dives. Her twisting dives were not as good as she has done on the past meets. This brought her score down," said Carbon High diving coach Stewart Foster.

Kindra also had low scores in her back dive.

"We have been working to improve these dives for the State Championships at BYU," Foster said.

In the boys 3A region competition, Joel Garff placed second as an individual.

"Joel had some great dives, but we are working toward more difficult dives to give him more points at state," Foster said.

Caden Sherman placed third in 3A diving. Caden failed his one twisting dive, and had some low scores on two or three of his dives. We also trying to get Caden to work on some more difficult dives. Caden has the potential to do these dives.

On Thursday Feb. 9 the divers compete at BYU in Provo against all classifications for the State Championships.

As a team Joel and Caden placed Carbon H.S. in first place in Region 3A diving, according to Foster.
