Panthers scratch and claw their way to victory
The Pinnacle High Panthers overcame a 13 point deficit to record a 47-44 victory over Tintic on Wednesday night at the PHS gymnasium.
Head coach Andrew Olson said the team came out of halftime with more energy on defense which allowed the offense to pick things up and cut into the Tintic lead.
"We got stops on defense and we got a lot of rebounds by boxing out down under the basket," Olson said after the game.
The win against Tintic, the top team in Region 18, will give the Panthers momentum going forward, Olson said.
"This was a good win and it should give us a lot of confidence going forward," he said.
Olson cited the play of Barry Hamilton, who finished with eight points and 16 rebounds, and guards Dalton Rudman and Jake Hardy who combined for 22 points, as the reason for the comeback win.
"Barry's defense was great, Dalton was a spark off the bench and Jake did a good job despite his foot injury and foul trouble," he said.
Pinnacle (10-6, 3-4 Region 19) will take on Monticello on Thursday night at the PHS gymnasium. It will be a chance for the Panthers to knock off a team that is ahead of them in the standings.
