Sun Advocate associate editor

Sheriff's Department Captain Guy Adams remained on paid administrative leave Monday pending a vehicle vandalism investigation by South Salt Lake police and an internal investigation by his own department.

Sheriff James Cordova put Adams on leave last Wednesday when it was learned Adams was considered a "person of interest" in the case.

The South Salt Lake police did not return a phone call from the Sun Advocate Monday, so a progress report was unavailable at press time.

Last week, however, the police had said the investigation concerns unspecified damage to three vehicles that were parked at a vehicle equipment business on Jan. 6.

As of Monday, there had been no arrest or charges filed.

Adams is the Sheriff's Department's second-in-command.
