Two Nine Mile Canyon workers missing
Two men that have been working for a company building a pipeline in Nine Mile Canyon were reported missing this week.
The pair reportedly left the man camp they were staying in on Saturday and according to reports on a Grand Junction, Colorado television station on Wednesday, one of the men called his wife and told her that the two were heading out and going to have some fun.
Neither has been heard from since. At least one of the families reported the situation to the Carbon County Sheriff's office and Sheriff James Cordova said on Wednesday night that they had taken some action on the situation, but saw no reason to suspect foul play at this time.
"We had a couple of elk hunters missing up the Nine Mile area and while they were looking for them we had them look for these other two gentlemen," said Cordova. "I also sent a deputy up the canyon today to check all the gullies along the road and in other areas. We found nothing."
The two men, who are from Colorado, are Brian Axe and Mark Widegren. They have been working for WC Striegel which is a Rangely, Colo. based company that is building a natural gas pipeline.
Reportedly the families are headed to Carbon County today to execute their own search for the men.
