A male golden eagle is on the road to recovery after being shot in south Emery County. The shooting was reported to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources last Sunday and the injured eagle was taken to Debbie Pappas, who works with the DWR on raptor rehabilitation. According to Pappas, it will take about three months for the eagle's injury to heal. The DWR has transported the raptor to agency's headquarters in Salt Lake City. Carbon and Emery residents are cautioned that it is a federal offense to shoot at protected raptors, especially golden eagles.
