That's 2,020 pounds of food piled in front of Pinnacle Canyon Elementary School student officers and two of their teachers. Classes at the school collected the cans and packages as part of a math project on ounces-to-pounds conversion and as a community service. The non-perishables have been donated to the Carbon County Food Bank. Standing behind the small mountain are students Ryker Smith, Liam Bloomer, Maleah Mascarenas and Brennan Bogdin, with teachers Camille Carmack and Lynnae Rasmussen. The students calculated 1,681.41 pounds using the net weight listed on the cans and packages but the food bank scales showed the full weight that the kids had to collect and carry.
