A routine traffic stop in Helper last Wednesday resulted in the arrest of two suspects for possession with intent to distribute heroin.

Helper Police Chief Trent Anderson said two ounces of the drug were seized.

Taken into custody by officer Chris Pugliese were:

Joseph Lopez, 19, Price; and Jerica Garcia, 18, Wellington. Both were booked at Carbon County Jail.

Pugliese said he pulled the pair over on Highway 6 for failure to signal a lane change.

"We've had several overdoses recently and we hope this arrest will put a dent in the supply,' Anderson said.
