Wellington to ask for $1 million sewer grant

The Wellington City Council decided Wednesday to go ahead with a request to the state's Permanent Community Impact Board for a $1 million grant to finance sewer repairs across town.

A video survey of the system showed deterioration in a number of places. The survey showed about 4,200 feet of 10-inch pipe and 1,600 feet of 12-inch pipe need to be replaced.

Wellington enacted a sewer rate increase last year to pay for bonds on an earlier emergency loan for sewer repair.
