Helper schedules special meeting

The Helper City Council has scheduled a special work meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. in the council room at the Civic Auditorium.

The city is reviewing its various rate structures for municipal services to address an impending shortfall of about $200,000 in its budget.

Maintenance expenses on the city's aging infrastructure coupled with a decrease in sales tax revenue have taken a toll on the budget, and the city has said it has almost no options for reducing spending any further.
