The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) announces a new smart phone app that will allow people to get traffic, road conditions, and road forecast information on the go. The UDOT Traffic app is available for iPhone and Android users at no cost.

The UDOT Traffic app provides mobile access to the best and most up-to-date information from UDOT's Traffic Operations Center. The available information includes:

* A zoomable, scrollable Google Maps based display;

* Current traffic conditions on Utah's freeways and major surface streets;

* Lists of accidents, road construction activities, and other hazards;

* Special events that affect traffic (sports events, etc.)

* Current road weather conditions and road weather forecasts;

* Seasonal road closures;

* Current traffic camera images;

* Electronic roadway sign messages

The UDOT Traffic app was beneficial to users during the recent wind storms by giving current weather and crash information. An app for Android phones can be found on the Android Market. To download the app for iPhone, visit the App Store.
