Body Identified, Sheriff confirms victim was Christopher Robertson
The body discovered in a sewer manhole south of Price Monday has been identifed as 38-year-old Christopher Robertson of Price, according to Sheriff James Cordova.
Robertson had been reported missing about a month ago and had not been seen since.
The sheriff said the cause of death has not yet been released by the State Medical Examiner.
As to how Robertson's body came to be in the manhole, "That's the million dollar question right now, and it's our job to find out," Cordova said. "Who put him there and why is not known. We are investigating."
Robertson's mother, Emma Robertson, had told the Sun Advocate in an earlier interview that he was extremely depressed after being diagnosed with bone cancer.
She said at the time he had no car and may have asked someone for a ride to get somewhere.
The decomposed body was found by a Price River Water Improvement District worker making a routine inspection of the system.
When notified of the discovery, the sheriff's department and public safety responders secured the area around the scene.
They spent about five hours at the scene, recovering the body and conducting a preliminary investigation.
