Carbon High girls complete Colorado tournament with two victories

The Carbon High girls basketball team traveled to Grand Junction for a weekend basketball tournament and were able to come away with two more victories on the season.

In their first game of the tournament, Carbon High faced off with Basalt, Colo., which saw the Lady Dinos come away with a 46-15 victory.

Carbon used a tough defense in the first half which saw the Lady Dinos outscore their opponent 26-3 on their way to the victory.

In their second game against Grand Junction, Carbon High needed a strong fourth quarter to send the game into overtime. In the overtime period, Grand Junction pulled away for the 49-43 win. The Lady Dinos were outscored from the free throw line 23-3 in the game.

In their final game of the tournament, Carbon High faced off against host Fruita Monument and came away with the 48-26 victory.

The two teams played a close game through the third quarter before Carbon blew the game wide open outscoring their opponent 23-3 in the final quarter.

The Carbon High girls return home to play rival Emery High tonight at 7 p.m. at the Carbon High gymnasium.
