CHS launches drive to help the needy at Christmas
In an effort to get the community and student body involved with helping fulfill the wishes of kids in need, the Carbon High Student Government and school clubs are holding some fun events over the next few weeks. The school has taken 50 Angels to furnish gifts and stocking stuffers off the United Way list. The students' goal is to raise $10,000 in cash and donated gifts in the next few weeks to give the children a Merry Christmas.
On Dec. 19 student council members will be going door to door in the community, offering their assistance with odd jobs in an effort to raise money. If you have a small job that the students can do to raise some funds you can call Carbon High or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org and they will contact you about the job.
On Saturday, Dec. 10 and Thursday, Dec. 15, there will be a Carbon School district bus parked at the Wal-Mart parking lot. The students are asking the community to "stuff the Bus" with small items for stocking stuffers and little gifts for the children being sponsored by Carbon High. On Saturday the bus will be parked and waiting from 9 am-4 pm. On Thursday it will be in place from 4-9 pm.
On Dec. 12, the community is invited to a City-wide Christmas party at the high school starting at 6:30 pm. There will be light refreshments catered by the Pro-Start group as well as entertainment by the band and choir. Several elementary school choirs will also perform that evening. Santa will be a featured guest.
The school just wrapped up a food drive in which the students collected over 4,000 lbs. of food for the local food bank. Now they are doing a candy cane-gram fundraiser to also help with the Angel tree project. Students can pay to have a message and candy-cane sent to another student throughout the month of December.
