Junk electronics? Save them 'till spring
Recently the Canyonlands Recycling sponsored an E-Waste recycling day in Moab. Metech Recycling of Salt Lake City, which holds the State of Utah contract for electronics recycling was the company that came to the town to collect peoples electronics and batteries. Some members of Carbon County's Green Team went to the event (the second Moab had since May when they collected 26 tons of electronics and batteries) to size up what they want to do in the local Carbon-Emery area.
This spring the Green Team will partner with Price City to host the 1st Electronic Waste Collection Drive in the local area. Pretty much anything that plugs in as well as non-rechargeable batteries can be safely and securely recycled by a certified electronic recycler. Nothing will be shipped oversees.
The group have more details to work out such as seeking sponsors and the location because there is a fee associated with the service. But the Green Team prefers to provide the upcoming event free to citizens of the area, with sponsors hosting the event.
Anyone who is aware of a group interested in donating financially should contact Jeanne McEvoy at (435) 650- 9249.
Please save any electronics or computers that are to be discarded this Christmas season for next springs recycle event.
More information will be forthcoming in future issues of the Sun Advocate.
