Time was when trebuchets a bit larger than these could catapult a rotten pig carcass over castle walls, but at USU Eastern's modified Punkin' Chuckin' exercise last week, footballs would do. It was David Kardelis' physics class that undertook the engineering project to understand the principles involved and get some hands-on experience. To make things interesting, grades depended on distance and accuracy. Students had to score a field goal by putting the pigskins though the goal posts about 50 yards away on the lawn in front of the Reeves Building.
