Learning the fundamentals and getting down to the basics, as well as having some fun, is the driving idea behind a basketball camp being put on by Carbon High boys basketball head coach Jeff Cisneros.

Cisneros, in his first year as the head of the boys team after working previously as an assistant, said he wanted to do something to help local youth in learning about the intricacies of the game of basketball.

The camp is being broken into two groups, with third through sixth grade and seventh through twelfth grade students.

Both boys and girls in those grades are welcome to come out and learn how to play basketball. Cisneros said the camp will focus on getting the fundamentals down, including shooting, passing and defense, while also working to help improve each person's individuals skills.

The camp will be held this Saturday at the Carbon High School Gymnasium. The first group will be the third through sixth graders which will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. The seventh through twelfth grade students portion of the camp will go from 1 to 4 p.m.

The camp cost is $25 per student, which covers the cost for running the camp and includes a t-shirt for each participant.

Cisneros said that members of the boys basketball team will lend a helping hand in running the drills at the camp.

Students can sign up for the camp at the Carbon High gym on Saturday morning.

For more information about the camp, contact coach Jeff Cisneros at 435-820-8379.
