A 21-year-old Wellington man died Saturday of injuries suffered in a one-vehicle rollover shortly after midnight Thursday.

Wellington Police Sgt. Kelly Maynes identified the victim as Cassidy McCourt. The sergeant said McCourt was driving his pickup westbound on old Wellington road when he either lost control or drifted off the road, rolling the vehicle.

McCourt was ejected from the vehicle, sustaining critical injuries. He was transported by helicopter to a Utah County hospital.

Maynes said the accident investigation indicated speed and alcohol were probable factors in the crash. The officer added that the victim's chances of survival would have been improved had he been wearing a seat belt.

Wellington police were assisted by the Utah Highway Patrol and Carbon County Sheriff's office in the investigation.
