Submissions may be sent by regular mail, dropped off at the office at 845 East Main in Price or emailed to fyi@sunad.com. All news items are subject to editing. First and last names are required for telephone numbers. FYI sections are published on a space permitting basis.

Jobs Daughters - Bethel 3 of Price Utah of the International Order of Jobs Daughters has resumed meetings for the fall term. If you are a young lady between the ages of 10 and 20 and would like more information about joining our organization, please contact Kelly Wilkinson at 630-3328 or kwilkinson@sunad.com. Halloween Dance - October 29 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center, 450 So. Fairgrounds Way, Price. Music of the Heart will be playing. All ages welcome, refreshments served. Prizes for best costumes. Donations accepted. Call Annette 650-6268 for more information.

A City in Blow Valley - Price Centennial readers theatre will be presenting this original production on October 21, 22 and 23. Performances will be in the Price City Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Tickets are free of charge but because seating is limited you are urged to contact city officers to procure tickets for the show. A limited number of tickets may be available at the door before each performance.

Wire wrapped Jewelry Class - Just in time for Christmas. Carbon Rec. is offering a wire wrapped jewelry class. Students will learn how to create a beautiful wearable wire wrapped pendant that they can keep. The fee is $35 per person and includes all materials needed to complete the project. This class is for children and adults. Classes will be held Oct 26 and 29.

Cooking with Steve May - Join Master cook Steve May, November 9 to learn how to prepare a meal. Then invite someone to join you to enjoy your creation. The fee is $35 per person and includes dinner for you and a guest. Pork Tenderloin is main course but you will also learn to make sides, rolls, and a desert.

Black Dragon Mountain Bike Ride - Go on a 15 mile moderately difficult downhill ride on November 5, meet at 8am at Carbon Rec. This ride is great for the whole family. You must provide your own bike, helmet, lunch and water. The fee is $10 and includes transportation for the first 10 people registered. We will stop at Ray's Tavern in Green River on the way home. All participants must pre-register.

Thanksgiving Dinner in a Dutch Oven - Dutch oven food is the best, right? Then why not have it for Thanksgiving? Learn the arts of making thanksgiving dinner in a Dutch oven from Layne Miller. Class will be held November 12 at 9am at Carbon Rec. The fee is $45.

Skiing at Park City Mountain Resort - Carbon Rec. is taking registrations for a ski van to Park City Mountain Resort. The fee is $100 for five trips. Carbon Rec. provides the transportation only. All other expenses including lift passes and rentals are the participant's responsibility. The first trip is January 7 so get your season passes today.

Tumbling - Carbon Rec.'s tumbling program Continues on Tuesdays at the Light House High School. You can begin anytime. The fee is $18 per month. The instructor is Pineau Nielson. This program is for all kids ages three and up. .

Men's Basketball - Carbon Rec. is taking teams for the upcoming Men's basketball season. The fee is $435 per team. There will be two divisions if there are enough teams. League will be played on Mondays at Carbon High School.

Junior Jazz Basketball - Jr. Jazz is just around the corner. The registration deadline is November 1. There are leagues for both boys and girls. The fee is $36 or $46 with the official Jr. Jazz Jersey. Gym space is limited so register early to secure your spot. Volunteer coaches are also needed.

Second Grade Developmental Basketball - Carbon Rec. is taking registrations for the upcoming second grade developmental basketball league. The registration deadline is January 10 and the fee is $23. Games and practices will be on Saturday morning's at Creekview Elementary. Emphasis will be on skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Kindergarten first grade instructional Basketball - Carbon Rec. is currently taking registrations for their Kindergarten, first grade instructional basketball program. The fee is $18. Instruction will begin January 16. Play will be one day a week right after school. Mondays they will meet at Wellington and Pinnacle Canyon, Tuesdays at Sally Mauro, Wednesdays at Castle Heights and Thursdays at Creekview.

The Southeast Early Intervention Program - is a State and Federal home based program providing services to assist families in promoting developmental skills in children birth to three years of age. Contact Price office 637-3950 or Castle Dale office 381-2667.

Early Head Start - A FREE fun program serving prenatals and children of all development levels ages 0-3. The program offers educational, social-emotional, and health services along with family support and fun activities. Call 613-9492 or stop by at 745 E. 200 S. in Price for an application.

Southeastern Utah District Health Department Immunization Clinic Hours - Monday through Thursday 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. The office is located at 28 S 100 E in Price. Call 435-637-3671 for more information.

Western Mining and Railroad Museum - Located at 296 South Main in Helper, the museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. For information, Castle Valley residents may contact the museum at 472-3009.

Carbon County Triad - meets the first Wednesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at the Price public safety dispatch center.Members focus on law enforcement and aging programs to assist the elderly.

Gallery East - Hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Immunization clinic hours - Clinics are scheduled at Southeastern Utah Health District Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. For information, contact the public health department at 637-3671.

Women's cancer screening - Women 50 years of age or older may qualify for free breast and cervical cancer exams and mammograms. Women ages 40 to 49 may qualify for a low-cost exam.For information, call the public health district at 637-3671.

Free legal clinics - Utah Legal Services has scheduled free clinics the second and fourth Monday of the month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 7th District Court complex, located at 149 East 100 South in Price. Residents should bring all pertinent documents pertaining to legal questions. For information and appointments, contact the agency toll-free at 1-800-662-1563.

Carbon County Animal Shelter - AVID chip pet identification is available at the shelter. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Carbon County RSVP & Volunteer Center - Residents of Carbon County who would like to lend a hand, or are in need of the assistance of volunteers, may contact the Carbon County RSVP & Volunteer Center at 636-3204 or visit our web site for more information at http://www.carbon.utah.gov/volunteer.

Carbon County Family Support and Children's Justice Center - offers crisis care for families with children from infants to 11 years old. The crisis nursery is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Residents may use the nursery for respite, doctor and mental health appointments, court appearances, medical emergencies, family crisis, support meetings, divorce classes and to escape domestic violence.

Parenting classes are scheduled Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

The center is also collecting donations for displaced families. Furniture items will be accepted only if the center has families in need.

Child care resource and referral - For information on reserving a spot at upcoming child care provider orientation classes, local residents may contact Avis Burrows at 636-2355.

Applications for startup grants are available at the agency's office at CEU.

Price library - Hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6:45 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., closed Saturday and Sunday.

Story time is scheduled Monday at 11 a.m. for toddlers, Tuesday and Wednesday at 5 p.m. and Thursday at 1 p.m.

English as a second language classes are Monday and Thursday at 6 p.m.

Basic literacy classes are scheduled as needed.

CEU Library - Hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed Saturday; and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Hours vary during holiday weekends, school breaks and summer semesters.

Rape crisis hot line - Rape or domestic violence victims in the Carbon-Emery County area may contact the local 24-hour crisis line toll-free at 1-866-894-8610.

Carbon County Humane Society - offers clinics the third Tuesday of the month at 5 S. Carbon Avenue, Price.

Contact the society at 637-0588 for appointments.

Second Chance Wildlife Rehabilitation - is a non-profit group dedicated to the care of orphaned, injured or ill wildlife.The group needs a volunteer to organize and carry out fundraising events. Contact Debbie Pappas at 650-3441 for information.

Castle Country Habitat for Humanity - is accepting applications for homes from eligible candidates. The office is located at 150 South 700 East in Price. Donations may be sent to PO Box 724, Price, UT 84501. For information, contact the organization at 637-9701.

CEU Prehistoric Museum - is now open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, (closed Sunday)year round. Feedings for the museum critters are at 4:00 p.m. every Friday (general admission fees apply). For information, contact the museum.

Freedom Community Outreach - Located at 550 East 100 South in Price, the organization offers free clothing for local families. The center is open Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Donations of gently used clothes and household items are accepted.For information, Carbon County residents may contact the office at 637-0141 or freedomcommunityoutreach@yahoo.com.
