Wellington RUCD Head Start welcomed the children back to school on Sept. 26 at an open house. The theme was The Wizard of Oz, where the children were greeted at the door by their Family Advocates. Parents and students were then directed toward the yellow brick road. The children then got to see their class room and meet all of the other students. The teachers represented the "scarecrow" - the brain of the class. The children were able to create their own scarecrow making them feel at ease in their classroom. The cooks represented the "tin man" - healthy heart - and the children and parents were served a healthy snack. The bus drivers represented the lion - the courage to ride the bus. The children were able to actually get onto the bus to relieve any fear they may have had. School began Sept. 27 and all children were excited to return for their first day. Price RUCD Head Start also held their open house on Sept. 26, where their theme was "Paradise". They reported a good turnout and expect to have another enjoyable year. Parents interested in enrolling their children, ages 3-5, at Head Start should call (435) 637-4960 for more information, or stop by either center and pick up an application.
