Carbon County Board Of Commissioners Notice Of Board Vacancies September 30, 2011

In the interest of giving more citizens the opportunity to serve in
the community, the Carbon County Board of Commissioners would like to
give notice of volunteer service opportunities with various County
Boards or Committees. Following is a list of vacancies.  Applications
are available from the Commission Secretary.  For more information,
please call 636-3226.  Mail all applications to: Sandra Lehman, Carbon
County Commission, 120 East Main Street, Price, Utah 84501.  Deadline:
October 31, 2010.  All applicants must be willing to regularly attend
meetings and actively participate in the committee or board
activities.  Please do not apply if you have been convicted of a

Number of Vacancies: Three
Terms: Five year terms.

 This Board meets on an as-needed basis, usually three or four times
per year.  Meetings are to consider appeals from zoning decisions,
special exceptions to the terms of the Development Code, and variances
to land use planning issues.

Number of Vacancies: Two
Terms: Four year terms.

 This is a seven member board that is appointed by the Board of
Commissioners and meets monthly to recommend zoning ordinances and
maps, subdivision regulations, amendments to same, requests for
conditional use permits, etc. to the County Commission.  It is
preferred to fill these vacancies with citizens that reside in the
Price City area.

Number of Vacancies: Three
Terms: Two year terms.

 This Board will meet every other month and more if necessary, and
will focus primarily on the promotion of tourism and the development
of tourism related facilities within Carbon County.  Board members are
responsible for making recommendations to the Carbon County
Commissioners for the expenditure of the restaurant sales tax and
transient room tax collected in Carbon County. The Board must be
composed of members living within Carbon County, and a majority of the
members must be current employees of entities operating restaurants or
hotel/lodging businesses within Carbon County.  The balance of the
board members must be employees of recreational facilities, convention
facilities, museums, cultural attractions, or other tourism-related
industries located within Carbon County. 

Number of Vacancies: One - For District Four
Terms: Four year terms.

 This Board meets quarterly and members must reside in respective
districts.  District Four consists of the legal boundaries of Price
City.  A map of districts can be viewed in the Carbon County
Commission Secretary=s office.


Number of Vacancies: Three B One regular and Two Alternates
Terms: Regular: Three year term.
Alternates: One year terms.

 This five-member bipartisan board, mandated by state law, consists of
three regular members and two alternate members.  Meetings are held on
an as-needed basis to hear appeals not resolved at lower levels in
cases of career service county employees that have been suspended,
transferred, demoted, or dismissed as well as in cases of other
grievances not resolved by the grievance process at the county and/or
departmental level.


Number of Vacancies: Two
Terms: One 2 year term and one 4 year term.

 This three-member bipartisan board meets as needed.  Members must be
citizens of Carbon County for not less than five years and hold no
other office or county employment.
