Community leaders from the whole of Carbon County gather to dedicate a 'recovery fence' in the Price City Peace Gardens. The fence was constructed over the past month by members of the Carbon County Communities that Care Coalition (CTCC) with help from the Castle County Youth Center and the Boys and Girls Club of Carbon County. The CTCC's Kami McManus designed the project and was able to build the structure with some help from Price City Councilmember Jeanne McEvoy and her husband Grady.

"It was our goal to build something that would provide a place of hope for those in recovery," explained McManus. "The Price City Council has been so great concerning this project, allowing the fence to stay in the Peace Gardens through September and even donating a tree to be planted in Heritage Park. We plan to use all of these events to stomp out the stigma of addiction in our community."

Recovering individuals in the area are being encouraged to post their story on the structure for all to share and draw strength from. It is important to note that all stories posted to the fence with remain anonymous.

The CTCC has also been working with the Healthy Families Coalition this year to promote 'Recovery Night,' which will take place at Carbon High on Sept. 29. The community event is open to everyone ages 12 and older with free child care provided for those with children ages 2-11. The group has brought in nationally recognized speakers for Recovery Night and has also planned breakout sessions to help the local community learn as much as possible about the ongoing local issue of substance abuse.
