Ancelia (Shiela) Marinoni Marchino was born on Sept. 17, 1911 in Rovetta, Italy. When she was eight-years-old, she along with her mother and two younger brothers imigrated to America to rejoin their father. He was a rock mason and had come to America five years earlier to work in his trade. They settled in Idaho and lived in Lava Hot Springs and later developed a farm in Arimo, Idaho. After the depression and the loss of the farm, the family moved to Carbon County in 1930 to find work in the coal mines.

In 1933, she married Mario Marchino, had three children Louise, John and Jerry. Ancelia has been a mother, housewife and also helped her husband in operating both a service station in Carbonville and motel in Price. Upon their retirement she and her husband went on several trips touring both the U.S. and Canada.

After her husband passed away in 1996, she and her sister Aurelia, who died in 2007, spent time together and had many memorable outings on their favorite trips to Wendover, Mesquite and Laughlin, Nev. Although she hasn't been able to make a trip lately, the "penny slots" in Wendover are still her most enjoyable activity. As she turns 100 her brother John Marinoni is trying to keep pace with her, as he will be 99-years-old in December.

As an interesting fact she has voted in every presidential election since 1932.

To help celebrate her 100th birthday there will be an open house on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011 at the Notre Dame Hope Center, 200 N. Carbon Ave., in Price from 2 to 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. No gifts please.
