It's pretty much the same start as last season. The Lady Dinos volleyball team dropped their second match of the season with a 3-1 loss to Emery on Thursday night. The match went 22-25, 25-22, 13-25 and 24-26.

Coach Bob Potts is a little disappointed but is not about to start panicking just yet.

"We are off to a slow start, but we just need to simplify what we are doing. I think I was trying too hard. We are going to focus on consistency and simplify our approach. We are still searching for some team leaders to step up, but I feel that this will come," he said.

In set one on Thursday it was a back and forth game with Emery making a late run to take it. In set two Carbon trailed most of the game, but battled back with their own late run of four straight points to take the set. The third set stayed close until the Spartans put on two big runs and walked away with the set. Finally it looked like the Dinos would tie it up. They led until late in the game but they could not hold off a powerful Emery serve.

Jenee Martinez pulled 16 defensive digs. Amanda Freestone smashed seven kills, while Rachel Scoggins and Kayleigh Potts added six each. Ashley Quinton had three service aces and seven set assists in the match.
