Elks Lodge donates 1,000 to Boys and Girls Club
Thanks to a $1,000 donation from Price Elks Lodge to the local Boys & Girls Club of Carbon County program, the Club will be able to provide additional opportunities for more teens in the Carbon County area to participate in daily programs and activities.
The funds will also help in providing additional equipment for the Games Room and Cooking Club. The donation was made on Wednesday, July 27 when Robert Regruto, Exalted Ruler (ER) presented a check to McKell Warburton, executive director of Boys and Girls Club of Carbon County.
The Boys & Girls Club of Carbon County is an after-school and summer youth development program for kids ages 6-18. Their mission is to inspire and enable all young people, including those who need it the most, to become productive, responsible, and caring citizens.
The Boys & Girls Club provides a safe place to learn and grow, ongoing relationships with caring-adult professionals, life-enhancing programs, character development experiences, and hope and opportunity through daily, structured activities. The club is around to fill a need or void for youth in the community. Currently, the club offers programming to the teen population 13-18 year olds or 7th-12th grade students.
This teen component called 'The Club' is available for all teens in the Carbon County area to have somewhere to be and something to do especially during the after-school hours. We see a gap in services for this particular population at this time and want to provide them with a positive option.
The Boys & Girls Club of Carbon County will provide them that positive place to be. We will provide hope and opportunity for all participants through a variety of fun, creative daily activities.
The programs are structured and based on five Core areas of programming which are: Character & Leadership Development, Education & Career, Health & Life Skills, The Arts, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation. They focus on the whole child, every need and aspect of their life. The Club is also a place where they can learn new skills, meet new friends, and gain knowledge to assist them in the future.
BGCCC is grateful for key partners such as Carbon School District, USU-Eastern, Carbon County, Price City, Helper City, Wellington, and East Carbon City. They said they are also grateful for all donors who have supported the program this past year and those who continue to support our efforts to provide opportunities to youth in the area. Donations such as these are crucial to BGCCC's continued operations in the community.
