A 31-year-old Price man was struck and killed by a car as he was pulling weeds on the side of Ridge Road about four miles south of Price Thursday morning.

The Utah Highway Patrol identified the victim as Aaron Simms.

The UHP reported that the accident occurred at 8:25 a.m. at 800 East Ridge Road, in front of the Nielson Construction offices. Simms was weeding about ten feet south of the pavement when a westbound car driven by Jamie Mercurio, 31, Price, apparently drifted across the center line into the opposite lane, then off the shoulder of the road, striking Simms.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mercurio was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the collision. No citations have been issued and UHP was still investigating when this report was posted.
