500,000 gallons in one month? PRWID board says home did not use that much

The PRWID board is letting a customer off the hook for a meter reading that showed 500,000 gallons of water being used in a single month.

The district checked for leaks and found none. The meter manufacturer could find no error in the equipment. There was no flooding or apparent damage.

That volume of water is roughly equal to a one-inch pipe blasting out water continuously for one month, which did not seem to be the case.

Board member Ben Blackburn said the district probably didn't lose any water and moved to adjust the bill. The vote was unanimous.
