Campaign season has begun in cities across Carbon County. Nowhere is the urge to win a city council seat higher than in East Carbon. A dozen candidates have filed for the three available openings.

Candidates include incumbents David Avery and James Wayman, who will be running for reelection. They will be joined in the free-for-all race by Joyce Caviness, Barbara Fisher, Janice Hunt, Dave Maggio, Marcus Palacios, Rakele Palmer, Dyann Pearson, Barbara Robinett and Wayne Sprague. Andy Urbanik will not be running for reelection.

In Price, four candidates will be vying for three council seats. Incumbents Rick Davis and Jeff Nielson are running for reelection, while Wayne Clausing and E. Layne Miller have entered the race as first-time candidates. Veteran councilman Richard Tatton, whose term expires at the end of this year, will not be running for reelection.

Wellington has four candidates for three seats on the city council. Glen Wells and Marvon Willson will seek reelection. Incumbent Paula Noyes will not run for another term. Andrew Peter Yakovich and Chet Houskeeper have filed.

Three positions are open in Helper and five candidates have filed in the race. Robert Bradley and Kirk Mascaro are seeking reelection while Scott Fausett, Jason Llewelyn and Don Mortensen have also filed. Brandon Wise, an incumbent councilman, is not running for reelection.

In Sunnyside, incumbents Kelly Maynes, Froy Garcia, and Shari Madrid are running for reelection. Tyler Grundy and Jennifer Carter have also filed for council.
