Barbara and Joe Piccolo, on left, join other volunteers in hand-making about 1,000 Italian pastries for troops in Afghanistan. The group used the USU Eastern kitchen in the student center for the project. The deep-fried, honey glazed cookies will be shipped along with Hungarian cookies and letters from Carbon School District students expressing the nation's appreciation for their service.
