Helper's Day of Service July 23 is going to involve at least 400 volunteers and as many as 700, according to Mayor Dean Armstrong.

The community service project is organized by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but includes citizens of other faiths.

Projects include yard cleanup and minor home repairs for shut-ins, and a massive, end-to-end cleanup of the Helper Parkway.

County trucks will help haul away the debris collected.

Work will begin after breakfast in the city's big park at 7 a.m. and should be done in plenty of time to enjoy a free swimming day in the municipal pool.
