Housing authority of Carbon County will sponsor three new Americorps Vistas in the county jurisdiction.

Rae McCoy has returned to the Carbon County area to accept the role as intern administrator at the Golden Rule Mission. Her program focus will be homeless prevention. Her first major project is the Bell Ringing Campaign. All proceeds will be used to implement safety and security at the mission in Helper. Community volunteers are needed to ring bells during the holiday season. If interested call 820-8959.

Candice Crawforth from Idaho has been recruited to focus on multi-generational programs between seniors and teens. Her focus will be on safety, security, education, and mentoring programs. Her first project will be to conduct a survey to assess the needs of the elderly and youth of the community. Scholarships will be offered in return for service hours preformed for seniors and housing authority families. Interested volunteers can call 637-5170.

Claudia Pierce Marietti is a life long resident of Carbon County. She has been recruited to fill the needed position of a family support advocate. She has been assigned to the family partners program at head start in Wellington. Her program will be devoted to the development of self-reliance skills of families and young children residing in public housing.
