Price Police officers Scott R. Olsen and Manny Escoto are sporting their new official Olympics 2002 jackets. The two local policemen will join hundreds of other Utah law enforcement officers at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

Other local personnel attending the upcoming event include representatives of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, the Utah Highway Patrol, the department of telecommunication, the state transportation department and the Utah Department of Corrections.

The officers will report for duty the first week in February and become part of the Olympic Police Force.

Although they have all received special training, additional training for specific assignments will come once they report for duty.

The law enforcement officers could be working any number of jobs, including transporting and escorting dignitaries to traffic patrol duty.

Olsen and Escoto are looking forward to being part of the 2002 Winter Olympics and call it a 'once in a lifetime opportunity.'

'A lot of security measures have changed since Sept. 11,' pointed out Olsen. "And it is an honor to be working side by side with officers from throughout the world who are using these games as a model for developing security systems."
