Carbon's Jorge Mendiola was named to the 3A boys soccer second team by the Salt Lake Tribune. He was also given Honorable Mention in the Deseret News. Mendiola scored 14 goals this season including 4 in a game against American Leadership Academy.

Mendiola was only a sophomore this last season. He played the forward position on the soccer team. He was also the number one singles player on the Carbon boy's tennis team. Both sports were played during the spring season and so he split his time between the two.

When asked what were the highlights of the season, Mendiola stated it was the final game with ALA that let Carbon participate in the first round of the playoffs. It was also the game where he made four goals.

"I could not do anything without my teammates behind me," he said. "We had the best season for soccer in a long time and we almost made it to the next round. We would have been the first Carbon team to do that, go to the next round. I want to get that at least far next year."

Mendiola has been playing soccer since he was five and been with the Carbon team since he began junior high.
