Well, his mother thinks he's cute
A current patient at Second Chance Wildlife Rehab is a mature Turkey Vulture that had just migrated back into our area (Emery county) and was hit by something.
Since he's not talking, it is assumed it was a vehicle impact, which are unfortunately very common.
His humerus was fractured, requiring surgery to pin it in place. He had to remain still and calm for six weeks while the bone healed.
He has since had another surgery to remove the pins and is now in a large area, exercising and working towards regaining his strength and flight.
Vultures are very important to the environment acting as one of natures 'garbage men.' They are very large and are often mistaken for eagles when flying.
