PRICE - Our wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and longtime friend, Helen Evaline Edwards Markosek, passed away May 19, 2011 at Parkdale Care Center in Price at the age of 97.
She was born Dec. 23, 1913 in Florence, Colo., to Thomas and Flora Hasemyer Edwards.
Married Frank Markosek, Oct. 17, 1936 in Salt Lake City and for the past 40 years she remained widowed after the sudden passing of her husband on May 17, 1971.
Helen was a longtime resident of Sunnyside prior to moving to Price. For years she was an active member of the Price Ladies of Elks and Naomi Chapter #13 Order of the Eastern Star. Helen loved to Polka and she enjoyed many memorable times while attending the Slovenian Home in Spring Glen. Her family was her pride and joy and she loved sharing time with her relatives and friends. Helen was very outgoing, energetic, and she loved to keep busy. She loved working in her garden, being outdoors, traveling, playing card games and was passionate about her crochet work.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the entire staff at Parkdale Care Center for the excellent care shown to Helen and her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Roselyn (Gordon) Bates, Gilbert, Ariz; son, Frank E. (Trudy) Markosek, Price; brother, Ed Edwards, Price; grandchildren, Kristine (Ben) Kuntz, Queen Creek, Ariz., Steffnie (Ron) Beck, Fountain Hills, Ariz., Tammy (Pete) Ardohain, Price, Teri Markosek, Price; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ashley, Demi, Danny, Reece and Aleece; her special nieces and nephew, Tommy Parry, Earlene Cox, Myrlene Hider, Gaylene Ori and Mary Porter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Elizabeth; and brother, Wilford.
Graveside service, Wednesday, May 25, 2011, 11 a.m., Price City Cemetery. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Wednesday morning from 10-10:40 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are welcome to share memories of Helen at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
