PRICE - Alice Podbevsek Schmidt, age 79, passed away May 21, 2011 at Castleview Hospital in Price while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 25, 1932 in Scofield to Joseph and Veronica Parrish Podbevsek.
Alice married Paul Robert Schmidt, Oct. 9, 1954 in Price.
Alice (Ma to all that loved her so dearly) was "Ma" to all that walked through her door. Her beautiful smile and warm personality had a special way of making everyone feel welcomed and loved. Alice could recall in vivid detail stories of her childhood years in Scofield; whether it was about family, friends, farm animals or those special make believe friends we all had as kids. Each story had extraordinary meaning and you could talk to her for hours and learn about how "the good times" were spent back in the day.
She loved to play cards or board games; either rummy 500, poker, or checkers with her family and friends. Her keen mind and sharp decision making was the result of many lessons being taught during most of her card sessions. She enjoyed the outdoors; taking walks around the farm with her husband and lifelong companion Paul and their dog "Lady" or just watching the horses playing in the pasture or the ducks and geese skirmishing over space on the pond. One of her passions was bowling which she made many lasting friends and acquaintances over the years. She will be greatly missed by all who met, knew and loved her.
"Mothers hold their children's hands for a short while, but their hearts forever!"
Survived by her loving husband, Paul R. Schmidt, Price; children, Andy Schmidt, Price; Alan R. (Starr) Schmidt, Accokeek, Md, Amy L. (Jeff) Peters, Price; grandchildren, Jeffery S. (Becky) Peters, Boise, Idaho, Catherine M. Peters, Las Vegas, Nev; great-grandchildren, Lukas Peters, Boise, Idaho, Cadence M. Milles, Las Vegas, Nev; and her sister-in-law, Joy Podbevsek, Scofield.
