KENILWORTH/MAGNA - Ray Russell Brown, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and scouter left this world to live in peace with God on May 14, 2011. Ray was born in Kenilworth on Dec. 28, 1938 to Wilfred and Arline Brown.
Ray grew up in the hills of Carbon County, and not one mountain was too tall for him to climb. After having many wild adventures and outgrowing the small town life, Ray joined The Utah National Guard in 1956, and then the United States Navy in 1958. He married his first wife, Joyce, in 1958 and they had 4 beautiful children. They divorced in 1978. Ray met his soul mate, and love of his life, Patrician Sharon Pierce, in 1978. They married in Reno, Nev., after only a 12 day courtship. Their marriage together lasted until his parting. A partnership and love that lasted almost 33 years. Their marriage was blessed with two more beautiful children. Ray was a devoted member of the Latter-day Saints, and his devotion to both the church and scouting was second to none.
Ray's dedication to life and people was seen through his almost 50 years of scouting service, and almost 40 years of employment by the Sears & Roebuck Company. He retired from Sears in 2000, but his dedication to them and scouting was seen until his passing day.
His humor, love, compassion, and strength will be missed. We would like to thank all who were with him by his bedside during these final days. We would like to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice for all their devoted staff in helping Ray be as comfortable as possible, and their support for our family during this time.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Brown, brothers Ken and Terry Brown. His children, Raino, David, Kurt, Phylinda, Carla, Edward, Amber (Sean), and Megan. His 9 grandchildren, Ashton, Ryan, Jacob, Alexandra, William, Jeannette, Lily, Olivia, and Serena. Preceded in death by his parents Arline and Bill Brown, and his sister Margaret.
