'Glyphs and garb at museum kids' day

young people try their hands at an old art form during the USU Eastern Prehistoric Museum's Family Activity Day Saturday. The US Forest Service brought in specially-made sandpaper and wooden styli to let children design their own petroglyphs. The event celebrated the museum's 50th anniversary and Utah Archaeology Week. Other activities included painting dinosaur footprints, creating pottery designs and tying cords to create woven animals. At right, Blaine Miller of the BLM showed up in full tribal regalia. Other experts in Native American culture erected a full-size teepee on the Peace Gardens lawn.
