Youth baseball and softball seasons in full swing

Carbon County loves its baseball and after a long winter the wait is over. All over the county the youth baseball and softball programs are underway.

On Saturday, May 14 the Price Cal Ripkin and Babe Ruth baseball and softball teams will parade through the downtown to kick off their regular season of play. The teams have been encouraged to decorate floats and really liven things up this year. It will be the first time their has been softball teams included in this event.

This weekend there will be many tournaments going on through out the county. Two include the Babe Ruth Single Elimination Ice Breaker that begins this Wednesday and concludes with the Championship game at 7 p.m. on Saturday on the North Price Fields.

The Price Cal Ripkin League will hold their opening day tournament on May 14 on the North Price Fields.

Helper will have their parade on Friday May 13 at 5 p.m. and then proceed over to the Walt Borla Field for opening ceremonies.

Wellington baseball will not hold a parade, but will kick their season off with a breakfast in the park on Saturday May 14. The public is welcome with proceeds going to help defray the costs of the league. Games will start at 10 a.m. for the opening day tournament.

This Saturday on the County Fairgrounds fields will be a Girl's Fast Pitch tournament. The traveling U-12 fast pitch team from Price called the Dino Crackers will be playing in that with teams from all over the state and Nevada.

Price and Wellington Cal Ripkin teams will compete in a tournament that will be the week of May 16 through May 20. Those games will be played on fields in both North Price and South Price and Wellington.
