KSL Channel 5's Nadine Wimmer interviews Kyung Jung Sheen (Jack to his friends), Prescott Herzog and Alida Cummings. These three students were Castle Heights most prolific readers during a year when books were all important in Carbon County.

During the 2010-2011 school year, students at the local elementary read for 2.3 million minutes, earning them a "Literacy Landing" with the KSL 5 chopper.

According to Castle Heights Principal Jan Cox, the whole community came together to support this initiative participating in events such as: Moms and Muffins, Dads and Donuts and Grandparents and Granola, all in the name of increased literacy.

In addition to support from the school and community, partner groups like the local Parent Teacher Association also played a big part in making reading part of the daily routine for every Castle Heights student.

"I am so proud that our students have been so committed to reading and this program as a whole," said Cox. "I love that they feel reading is fun, it has become something they love to do."
