Dinos baseball remains undefeated in region 10 action
By TERRY WILLIS Sun Advocate sports reporter
After four easy wins, the Carbon Dinos had their work cut out for them as they faced the Park City Miners at home on Tuesday. It took eight innings, but Carbon edged out Park City for the 5-4 win to remain undefeated in region action and rack up a 10 game winning streak.
After Dylan Vogrinec took the mound and shut down the Miners in the top of the first, Carbon came out and pushed four runs across to jump out ahead. But then the prolific bats of the Dinos went silent. Park City began to climb back in with a run in the third, two in the fifth and the tying run in the top of the seventh.
Hayden Basinger came on in relief in the sixth. A huge play by right fielder Julian Tamllos to throw out a runner trying to score kept the Dinos in the game. Carbon scored on a blast from Vogrinec to get the win.
Jaren McCourt punched a triple in the first inning and Basinger hit a double in the winning effort. Carbon had five runs off of 10 hits and committed four errors.
"We have been fortunate against Park City in the past two seasons,"said coach Troy Moynier. "We made some base running and other mistakes, but came back ond got the win."
Carbon's game scheduled for home next Tuesday will be played at Wasatch.
