Powerful offense drives Dinos to victory

It can be said that the Dino's offense is powerful after looking at last week's results. They outscored their opposition 57-7 over four games. The great thing is they were all region games and Carbon is sitting in first place in region 10 at 4-0.

Carbon hammered Wasatch on Wednesday 13-1 after beating Union 14-3 the day before. On Friday ALA put up no fight as they went down 15-2 and 15-1 as the Carbon bats pounded ball after ball at them.

At Wasatch it took a little while for the Dino offense to wake up. This was part one of a make up game from the snow out last week of their scheduled double header. Gage Bigelow kept the Wasp batters off kilter and unable to do anything until Carbon found their stroke in the fourth when they put up five. Both teams drove a run across in the sixth and then the fireworks began and when it was over seven Dinos had crossed the plate. Jaren McCourt was the only Carbon hitter with an extra base hit. Carbon put up 17 runs on 13 hits and committed an error.

ALA came in and threatened in the first on some sloppy play in the field. But Carbon settled down and that was as close as the Eagles could come until they finally put two up in the fifth. The Dinos pounded the ball in the first and second to drive the pitcher from the mound. They had 12 runs before the third inning even began.

McCourt started the game on the mound and got the win. He also blasted a three run shot over the wall in the second. Clint Finkiner smashed a pair of doubles. Gage Bigelow hammered a triple. Derek Young, Dylan Vogrinec, Hayden Basinger and Julian Tamllos also doubled in the win.

In the second game of the double header Carbon scored a run in the first only to see ALA match it in the second. It seemed to spur the Dinos to take care of business and they pummeled the Eagles with 14 runs in the bottom half of the frame.

Young got the win on the mound. Voginec pounded a three bagger, Finkbiner picked up two more doubles and Basinger and Seth Tryon also hit a two base hit.

Carbon has a home game on Tuesday with Park City at 3 p.m. and then face Wasatch on the road for the other make up game on Wednesday.
