Helper American Legion Baseball golf tournament fast approaching
Coach Jeff Cisneros of the Helper American Legion team wants to remind everyone that the Helper American Legion four person scramble golf tournament is coming up. It will be at the Carbon Country Golf course on Saturday April 16. The fee to enter is $160 per team and there will be a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
For more information about the tournament call Jeff Cisneros at 637-3549 or Al Vogrinec at 637-8505.
The purpose of the tournament is to help defray the cost of playing American Legion ball for the boys who participate.
From field maintenance and umpire fees to uniforms and travel costs, the costs add up quickly.
Helper has had a legion team for decades and they consistently represent the community well.
Last year they were second in state for the fourth time in recent years. Cisneros makes no excuses on why they have not quite made it to the top, but being in the running for the championship game so many times shows what a sold program the Helper Legion team is.
Tryouts for this year's team will be toward the end of May and will be announced as it is closer to the time.
