Dinos baseball team battles opponents, weather in region play
By TERRY WILLIS Sun Advocate sports reporter
Last Friday's double header with Wasatch had to be postponed due to weather, but Carbon didn't gather any rust from the longer than expected off time.
The field in Roosevelt was not ready for action either, so both teams headed on over to Vernal to play their region game. Carbon rolled over the top of the Cougars with a five inning 14-3 win.
Carbon scored early and often. They put up three in the first, two in the second, three in the third and six in the fourth to capitalize on six errors by Union. Dylan Vogrinec got the win on the mound for the Dinos.
"Dylan (Voginec) pitched a great game. We played solid defense behind him. They Union got eight hits and we got 11, but they committed six errors and hurt themselves. Out power hitting is still going strong," summed up coach Troy Moynier after the game.
Vogrinec helped his own cause with a double. Clint Finkbiner and Julian Tamllos also blasted a two bagger in the win.
Carbon made up one of their games with Wasatch on yesterday.
They will return home to take on American Leadership Academy in a double header on Friday with game time at 2:30 p.m.
