Golden Eagles baseball team not enjoying road trips to Nevada, Idaho
The past two weekends have not been kind to the EU Eagles.
Southern Nevada knocked the stuffing out of the ball as they pounded EU 14-1, 10-2, 11-1 and 7-5 April 1 and 2.
This last weekend the Eagles actually saw a little success beating College of Southern Idaho in the first game 4-1 before losing the final three 7-6, 7-6 and 9-2.
In Nevada the Coyotes out scored the Eagles 42-10 over the four game series. EU left 21 runners stranded in the process.
On the bright side EU only committed five errors over the four games, but just could not stop the powerful offense of the Southern nevada squad.
In Idaho, Kody Christofferson pitched six solid innings to hold CSI to only one run. That run came in the sixth inning.
Nuho Kraja came on in relief and shut it down. Eastern put up a run in the fourth on a home run by Craig Brinkerhoff and then added a pair in the sixth to go up 3-0 before Idaho scored.
The Eagles put up one more in the seventh on a blast over the fence by Mason Moore to ice up the win.
The next two games ended 7-6 in favor of CSI. On Friday, Southern Idaho took the lead and it was EU making a last inning bid to keep the game going as they put up four runs in the ninth before falling short. Jace Harris was tagged with the loss.
In the first game on Saturday it was EU with a 6-3 lead going into the seventh before CSI roared back with four runs to snag the win, leaving three runners left on base when the game concluded.
Jordan Hepworth had to take the loss for EU Eagles.
The final game was all CSI with Eastern not able to score until the sixth when they were able to take advantage of some CSI mistakes to score two.
They gave three back in the top of the inning and could not score again. Colby Tidwell went 3.2 innings in his start and took the loss.
The Eagles will have one more road swing to Carson City this weekend before they will return home for a four-game series with Colorado Northwestern Community College on April 22-23.
