Eagles offense left at home against SLCC
Trying to outguess mother nature led the EU Eagles to switch their home stand with SLCC for a trip to play on the Bruin's field. It did not prove to be a great decision. With the weather in Salt Lake a bit worse than here, it didn't really matter.
But in the switch EU seemed to forget to take their offense along for the ride. The Bruins outscored the Eagles 47-4 in the four game series. On Friday it was 15-2 and 11-0 for SLCC. On Saturday it got no better with scores of 13-3 and 10-0.
In the first game on Friday the score stayed 1-1 through the fourth. EU took a one run lead in the fifth before the Bruins went on a three inning scoring run.
The Eagles went through five pitchers at the losing cause. Torry Ullibarri was tagged with the loss. Craig Brinkerhoff hit a double and a triple for the best offensive output of the whole series.
In game two of the series, it was all SLCC as they scored in almost every inning. Five more EU hurlers took the mound in the second game as well. Jace Harris had to swallow the loss in the second game.
Opening things up Saturday, both teams posted a pair of runs in the first. The Bruins broke the knot with three in the fourth and then ran away with it. Justin Orton hit a two bagger and Colby Tidwell was given the loss off the mound.
Finally, Colter Moore got the loss in the last game of the series. There was no offense at all from the Eagles as they ended the day with another shutout loss.
This weekend the team will head to Henderson, Nev., for a four-game series with the College of Southern Nevada.
