Dino soccer shut out by Union
By TERRY WILLIS Sun Advocate sports reporter
Missing a couple of key players due to conflict with another school activity, the shorthanded Dinos took the field against Union on Wednesday afternoon.
A little nervous about late game wind, they started on the opposite end of the field, but it did not help as Union beat them 5-0 to give Carbon their second region loss of the season.
The Cougars scored early in the contest, but it stayed close until midway through and then Union found the net again.
Before the end of the half they sent their third shot into the net.
Austin Nelson started the game at goal keep for the Dinos.
Rafael Leyva came on and tried to stop the scoring, but Union's shooting was hot and they added a pair of shots in the final period to take the win.
With a week to regroup, the team is hoping to rack up their first region win this Wednesday against ALA.
The game will be at home on the Dino soccer field with a game start of 4 p.m.
