Crowds of kids and parents fill the runway at Saturday's second annual Kite Day at the fairgrounds Desert Winds model airport. Major sponsors of the event were KUSA and KASL radio, Carbon County Recreation and Price Kiwanis Club. Other sponsors included Notre Dame Knights of Columbus, Market Express, Conoco Phillips, Fresh Market, R&A Market and Wal-Mart. There were 250 kites given out to children at the Carbon County Desert Wings model airport, but they crowd was so large the sponsors ran out of kites. People also brought their own eye-catching kites. There was more than one case of tangled lines and colliding kites. The windy March weather was great for carrying kites way up there.
